Au Pair Requirements
At GreatAuPair, and as parents, we know that you wouldn't trust your kids to simply anyone. We take the screening of au pairs very seriously, and we apply our high standards to every au pair who applies to our program. You can relax knowing that each au pair in our program has been thoroughly and professionally screened. All you have to do is select your favorite au pairs, interview them, and when you're ready, finalize your match.
In order to be considered for the program, our au pairs are required to:
- Be between the ages of 18 and 26 years old
- Be a non-US citizen and live in a country serviced by GreatAuPair
- Love children and have at least 1,200 hours of experience caring for them
- Have at least 600 hours of caring for children under the age of two (if the au pair will be working with kids under the age of two)
- Speak English proficiently
- Have no criminal background
- Have secondary school complete
- Have a valid driver's license
- Be in good health and be a non-smoker
- Be willing to come to the US for one year
- Complete the 32+ hour GreatAuPair Training Academy prior to arrival
Au pair details available to host families
The GreatAuPair application is designed to present host families with a comprehensive understanding of your potential au pair's skills, experience, and personality. In addition to the online application, au pair profiles also include:
- Photographs and a video
- Verified childcare references and a personal reference
- Medical evaluation form signed and stamped by the au pair's doctor
- Psychometric Test Results
- Criminal background check
- In-person interview report by a GreatAuPair representative
